虫の本様私自身は、冠詞の違いには、恥ずかしながら今まで気づいたことはありません。 a univesal grammar (uとgは小文字ですか?大文字ですか?）と書かれているものには、おそらくであったことがないと思いますが、自信はありません。aは、ほかにも同じようなものある、ということを含意しますから、a universal grammarという場合は、いくつもuniversal grammar(s)があって、その中の一つ、ということだと思われます。どういうところに出てきたのか、教えていただければ助かります。ただ、aとtheで意味の違いがはっきりするというよりは、それが出てくるコンテクストによると思われますので、一番ぴったり行くように解釈なさるのがいいと思いますが。若林茂則群馬県立女子大学

用語の質問

言語学の本を読んでいるのですが、a Universal Grammar という時と the Universal Grammar という時とでは意味が異なるのでしょうか？ a の場合は、個々の研究者が提唱する学説としての Universal Grammar で、theの場合は、説明する対象、目標としての Universal Grammar なのかな、と勝手に解釈しているのですが、正確なところは不明です。基本的な質問で申し訳ありませんが、よろしくお願いします。

The Second Language Research Forum (SLRF) will be held at The Pennsylvania State University from October 14-16 2004. The theme for this year's conference "Convergence and Collage: Collaboration in Applied Linguistics and the Language Sciences" focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to second language acquisition. SLRF 2004 Call for Proposals The Second Language Research Forum (SLRF) would like to invite proposals for papers and posters regarding theory and research in second language acquisition for its annual conference to be held at Penn State University from October 14-16 2004. We especially encourage interdisciplinary approaches to second language acquisition in keeping with the conference theme "Convergence and Collage: Collaboration in Applied Linguistics and the Language Sciences". Those interested in submitting a proposal should visit the conference website at http://lals.la.psu.edu/slrf2004/. The deadline for submitting proposals is April 30 2004. Submitters should specify one of the general research strands below under which they wish their proposal to be evaluated. Reviewers may consider re-assigning proposals to other strands with the submitter's permission. General Research Strands 1. Proposals will be accepted for the following formats: -Paper Presentations: 30 minutes long with a 10-minute discussion period. Submissions should include an abstract of no more than 400 words and a program summary of no more than 50 words. -Poster Presentations: to be displayed for a 2-hour block of time. Posters should meet basic size and design specifications to be supplied by the SLRF conference organizers. Evaluation of Proposals Abstracts for individual presentations are evaluated by a team of reviewers from the relevant strand in each of the following categories: - Topic must be relevant timely and important to the field - Presentation must include innovative and original research - Research question(s) data collection procedures and analytic approaches must be clearly indicated -Presentation must be well-organized
